Setting the sender's name in the Mail app for Windows 10.

Like many people, I have multiple email accounts.

Each account is for a different purpose and has different “sender's name”.

I was surprised when I set up those accounts on my box and every mail sent from the Mail app had the same “sender's name”.

After a few moments searching the internet, I found the answer here.

I decided to add the steps here, in case something happens to the original source.

You'll have to repeat the steps below for each additional gMail accounts you want to add

IN GOOGLE ACCOUNT

  1. Go to Google account settings for gMail account you're using in Windows Mail
  2. Go to: Security >> signing in to Google >> enable 2-step Verification and follow prompts turn on
  3. In same section as #2 go to:  App Passwords
    1. "Select the app and device you want to generate the app password for"
      1. Select Mail under "Select app"
      2. Select your device type under "select device"
    2. Once it generates the password, copy it to your clipboard (you will use this as your Windows Mail gMail account password instead of your regular gMail/Google password

IN THE WINDOWS MAIL APP

  1. Remove the gMail account(s) from mail app
  2. Go to Settings (gear icon) >> manage accounts >> add account
  3. Don't select "Other Account" (instead of Google)
  4. Enter your gMail address
  5. Enter name you want to use as 'Sender'
  6. In password field; use the secure password generated in your Google account "apps password" from above "Google Account"  steps
